Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit. Cookies allow a site to remember information about your visit — for example, your preferences, whether you are signed in, or pages you have already viewed. Similar technologies — such as local storage, pixels, tags, and software development kits — perform comparable functions and are covered by this Cookie Policy where the Foundation uses them.

Some cookies are set by the Foundation directly ("first-party"). Others are set by third parties whose technology runs on the Site ("third-party"). See Section 5.

2. Why we use cookies

The Foundation uses cookies and similar technologies to:

- operate the Site and its core functionality (e.g., remember your sanctions / age gate response, route requests, keep the Site secure);

- understand how the Site is used (analytics) so the Foundation can improve it;

- remember your preferences (e.g., region or language); and

- support marketing measurement and attribution for the Foundation's promotional activity.

3. Cookie categories

Cookies on the Site fall into the following categories:

Strictly necessary. Required for the Site to operate. While browsers allow you to block them, doing so may prevent parts of the Site from working. They include cookies used for security and basic functionality.

Performance and analytics. Help the Foundation measure how the Site is used (which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, where errors occur). This data is generally aggregated and used to improve the Site. Examples of providers: Google Analytics.

Functional. Remember choices you make to give you a more personalized experience (region, language, layout preferences).

Marketing and advertising. Support measurement and attribution of the Foundation's marketing activity, including pixels and tags from advertising platforms. Examples of providers: Meta (Facebook / Instagram), X (Twitter).

4. Third-party cookies

Third parties whose technology may set cookies on the Site include:

- Google Analytics (web analytics) — see Google's privacy policy and analytics opt-out.

- Google Tag Manager (tag-loading and event-routing infrastructure used alongside Google Analytics on parts of the Site) — see Google's privacy policy.

- Meta (Facebook / Instagram advertising pixel) — see Meta's privacy policy and ad preferences.

- X (formerly Twitter — advertising / measurement pixel) — see X's privacy policy.

- Snag (loyalty / quest Program platform — see Privacy Policy(§5) — see Snag's privacy policy.

- Ghost (blog hosting platform that operates on `blog.nexus.xyz`) — see Ghost's privacy policy.

Third-party cookies are governed by the privacy practices of the third party setting them. The Foundation does not control how third parties process data collected through their cookies and pixels.

The list above describes third parties known to the Foundation as of the Last Updated date in the header. The Foundation may add, remove, or change third-party cookie providers from time to time.

For details on third-party service providers used by the Foundation more broadly, see the public sub-processor list.

5. How to manage cookies

You can manage cookies through your browser and through the third-party platforms whose cookies are set on the Site.

Browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block, delete, or be notified about cookies. The exact controls vary by browser; see your browser's help documentation. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies through your browser may prevent parts of the Site from working.

Platform opt-outs. For most third-party platforms, opting out is more reliably done through the platform itself rather than through generic cookie controls:

- Google Analytics opt-out: <https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout>

- Meta ad preferences: <https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences>

- X / Twitter privacy controls: <https://x.com/settings/privacy_and_safety>

- Network Advertising Initiative (industry-wide ad-network opt-out): <https://optout.networkadvertising.org/>

- Digital Advertising Alliance (industry-wide ad-network opt-out): <https://optout.aboutads.info/>

6. Updates to this Cookie Policy

The Foundation may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes in the cookies in use, the deployment of a consent-management platform, or applicable law. Updates will be posted at `https://nexus.xyz/cookie-policy` and the "Last Updated" date in the header will be updated. Continued use of the Site after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Cookie Policy.
